OK - So you have received an email from the Creative Team assigning you to a ROLE (aka The Veteran, The Assistant Director, The Rival, etc.).    Fabulous!!

(If you haven't yet, you'll need to backtrack to Registering for the Con, filling out your Casting Form, or email us to find out your status.)

Now what?

Next Live Event:

Relationship Meetup #2:
Friday July 29th   8-10pm

Click here for our full schedule.

The Next Step is to fill in your Character Submission Form.  On this form we'll ask you to personalize the ROLE and start to morph it into a CHARACTER.

You get to give the CHARACTER a name, some backstory, and some history tied to the FILMOGRAPHY we are creating collectively.  You'll be asked several questions, so leave yourself at least 1/2 an hour to fill in this form.  We will list the questions on this page, so you can think about them BEFORE you go to fill in the form.

The form will email you a copy of the answers when you've submitted it, so you'll have written detail of what you submitted, and know you did it correctly.

If you have questions you can email us, or ask us LIVE at one or both of our next Q&A sessions on Discord.

Here is the list of questions you'll be asked, so you can think about it and be prepared to fill in the form.  Once you start, you won't be able to save it (unless Google is feeling kind that day, but I wouldn't rely on that.)

This information will be made public on a spreadsheet accessible by your fellow players.  Some of it will simply just be publicly known, some of it may be considered an open-secret (ie, the players know but other characters might not), some of it might be personal information about the player (your player name, player age category, player gender, etc.)

If you have concerns about anything being published in this manner, PLEASE EMAIL US to discuss options:  wdlarp22onlocation@gmail.com.  These are things your fellow players need/want to know to communicate with you effectively, so we hope you'll participate as fully as possible.  Some things are marked as optional.

  • Your Player Name, Age Range, and Gender

  • Character Name (your Professional Name, and any other names held by your Character including maiden names, secret names, etc.)

  • Character Gender (this can be anything you like; but if it differs from what you submitted on your Casting Form we may get in touch with you to discuss any further implications affecting relationships, etc.)

  • Character Age (this can be a range such as Young Adult, Adult, or Older - or you can give us an age)

  • Topics you'd like to avoid with other players when you begin the relationship-building phase (for example, if you don't wish your fellow players to broach the subject of divorce, children, mental or physical abuse, etc.)

  • A paragraph or two of background about your character.

    • For example:
How did they get to be where they are today?  You can write as much as you like for yourself, but please give us a paragraph or two we can publish so your fellow players get an idea of the CHARACTER behind the ROLE.  This could include where you are from, how long you've been in Hollywood or how you got your start, whether you have a dark and shady past or innocent reputation, what are their ambitions, do they have an top-quality agent... etc etc... anything you like.

  • Two Truths and a Lie - 3 facts about your Character, which are widely known to the media and their audience.  Two of them should be true.  One should be a lie.  The fact that the lie isn't true will be considered an open-secret.

    • For example:
Truth:  Betty Wilde (The Girl Next Door) was cast in her breakout role in Pollyannie, 1914.
Truth:  Betty Wilde was orphaned at the age of 8, when both her parents died tragically in a car accident.
Lie:  Betty Wilde is rumored to have earned her first starring role in The Jazzy Singer (1926) via the "casting couch".

  • FILMOGRAPHY:
We will list 3 films which will be a part of our FILMOGRAPHY.  We want you to pick at least TWO of them and 1) assign your character a ROLE in the film and 2) tell us something interesting either about their role or the film/set itself.

    • For example:
Did they play the dashing detective out to save the day?  Were they the Publicist or the Runner, just getting their feet wet in films?  Did anything interesting happen?  Were they the Propmaster, accused of replacing the fake wine with a real Cabernet?  Was it your breakout role as a leading lady?  Was the film snubbed for an award?

  •   FILMOGRAPHY continued:
You'll have the opportunity to add ONE film to our FILMOGRAPHY.
Tell us about the film (please use the basic layout of the three examples) and tell is about your CHARACTER's part in the CAST or CREW.

  • PLAYER-to-PLAYER contact - of the methods you provided us with on your Casting Form, what's your preferred method of contact?

  • You'll also get the chance to tell us or ask us anything else you think is relevant at this stage.

Don't worry about RELATIONSHIPS just yet.  We're going through the existing relationships pair-ups and making some adjustments.  You'll get these soon, and then get a chance to develop them further.  You'll be able to build on these, as well as create your own.
